Yes, I Teach Millinery!

About once a week, I receive an email or a phone call from someone asking me whether I teach Millinery Classes.

she made this hat from scratch!

Some call from quite far away; apparently it’s hard to find Millinery Instructors.

So far, I’ve taught students from all over the US as well as from as far away as Israel and Australia.

I teach classes, hold workshops and give private millinery/ hat making instructions; to receive updates about the upcoming classes and workshops, please send an email to monika@absolutelyhats.com .

The classes have a fixed topic, such as hand-blocked straw hat, sculpted 20ies velour cloche, fascinator etc. as a means to teach you a set of classical millinery skills that you can then use for more projects; you will walk away with your finished hat. The class description also includes the skills necessary to take the class successfully.
The classes are usually held in 2-hour blocks over the course of 4-5 weeks, with a maximum class size of 8 students; to sign-up to the classes held through the Adult School of the Chathams, Madison and Florham Park click here.

Workshops are usually one day, minimum 3 hours.
They can be booked for larger groups, for example a women’s club; please email monika@absolutelyhats.com for more information.

Individual instructions are also available; scheduling and curriculum are flexible and tailored to your interests and level of millinery experience. The maximum number of students for these tailored classes is 3.

And here is what some students have to say about the instructions
